Monitoring portfolios has never been easier. PortMgr has been designed such that each portfolio has all its open positions, unwound positions, empty positions and benchmarks standing side by side together with their trade and price information. There is no need to switch between screens to find what you are looking for since everything is in the one place.

Empty positions refer to instruments that you are interested in but as yet have not traded in, perhaps waiting for the right moment or price. Empty positions have no effect on the overall portfolio values.

Benchmarks are a special type of empty positions and refer to instruments such as stock market indices, which you can use to compare how your investments are performing against. For example, for a US stock portfolio you may find it useful to add the NASDAQ Composite or the S&P500 to the portfolio. By creating portfolios with only benchmarks, such as stock market indices, treasury bonds and currency rates, you can also use PortMgr to keep a close eye on world markets.

For each position, the application displays the Code, Name, Quantity, Value, P&L in amount & percent, full Transaction Costs including Stamp Transfer Fee (if any) & Commission, Price Change in percent, Previous Price, Market Price, Stop Loss in amount & percent, Trade Price, Trade Date and Change/Unwind Date.

Running totals are also shown highlighting the Total Value for all open positions, Realised P&L and Unrealised P&L in amount & percent for the whole portfolio. These totals and all other values will automatically recalculate for any portfolio changes.

After numerous discussions with users, PortMgr now incorporates three price update mechanisms. Users can:-

1. Manually update prices for each position,
2. Automatically update portfolios by reading in price files.
3. Automatically update portfolios via the Internet by downloading FREE quotes data from Yahoo! Finance

Quote data retrieved from Yahoo! Finance, includes, where appropriate, Price Date Time, Last, Change, % Change, Open, Low, High, Prev Close, Volume, Bid, Ask, 52-week Low, 52-week High, Dividend, Yield (%), EPS and P/E. PortMgr will display this information with every open position, empty position and benchmark in the portfolio.
